I am usually too busy to write reviews. However, I am making an exception for this company. HandyPro was recommended to me by a staff at my local Home Depot and they had a few good ratings on Angie’s List. When I met Korey, the local franchise owner, he appeared in a HandyPro labeled truck and uniform and quickly sent me a professional estimate. I was in a rush to move into our home, so I hired HandyPro to install floor tile, bath tile, kitchen and bath cabinets, and some miscellaneous tasks for a price of over $17,000. When his crew arrived, things were very different – no uniforms, big monster trucks, and a loud boom box that was turned back on even when I personally turn it off. Additionally, trash and debris was often left at the end of the day, including a collection of Monster drink cans decoratively aligned on my windowsill. The cherry on the top was arriving one day to see my new mailbox crushed by one of the monster trucks. The floor tile job ended up with many tiles edges much higher than adjacent tiles (some high enough to trip on) and misaligned grout lines across a very visible step in our living room. On our final invoice, only $300 was deducted for quality issues on the floor tile job that cost over $8,000 (not including the tile) and we were charged full price for some items that were incomplete. The day his crew was wrapping up, Korey strongly pressured my wife and I pay the invoice on the spot, something I would have no problem doing if the job was complete and done with good workmanship. After reviewing the invoice, we proposed to negotiate an adjusted settlement that we thought we thought would be a fair compensation for the amount and quality of the work done. HandyPro’s response was to threaten to place a lean on our home followed by a debt collection letter and a trial. We would have gladly paid full price for a quality job completed on time. Now my wife and I must live with a nightmare floor installed in our dream house. Additionally, we apparently will need to invest our time and money going to court to obtain a fair settlement that should have been offered by HandyPro without a fight.
